There are days when a good meal just simply isn’t enough – your body needs more. Whether it’s the need to get outside and breath deep in the fresh air, or attend a steamy hot yoga class to sweat out the stress and frustration from the week, nourishing your mind, body and soul is so important this time of year and we want to help you find the best spots to Nourish Yourself this month.
Spend the day soaking your troubles away in the outdoor pools at Nordic Nature Spa a short 30 minutes away in Chelsea, Quebec. It’ll cost a little bit of coin ($68/person for the day), but once inside you can make use of the hot and cold pools, outdoor sauna, and relaxation areas with cozy seats in front of the fire. Grab lunch from the spa restaurant or, our favourite, visit Chelsea Pub for a glass of wine and a bite on your way back to Ottawa.
There are plenty of places throughout Ottawa to learn more about meditation. We like the idea of taking some free classes first to see if it’s for you (we’re sure it will be!).
Throughout the year in Ottawa, the Sri Chinmoy Centre of Ottawa (75 Sparks Street) offers free meditation classes/workshops to help guide you along your path to relaxation and self love. Since you are only uncovering what you already have, they believe these classes should be free. After your first few sessions, there are other sessions to advance to that are also free. Their meditation classes include spiritual breathing, the power of concentration, visualization techniques, and more.
There’s certainly no shortage of yoga studios in Ottawa and the prices range from affordable to downright ridiculous. We like these places, suggested by Nar City Ottawa, that offer classes for under $8. Taking care of your body and mind shouldn’t clean out your pockets. With a little research, you’ll be stretching and feeling good without breaking the bank.

Winter is the perfect time to nourish and keep your brain sharp by emerging yourself in something totally new.
