Savvy Senior's Service
- Delicious and healthy food delivered to your parent’s
door!
For Immediate Release / Ottawa – November 15,
2008
The red apron, a unique Ottawa based business that brings
busy people back to the table around well-balanced,
healthful and delicious meals, is pleased to offer a
special service for the elderly. Starting November 15,
2008, the red apron will offer clients a service that
will include 10 single serving portions of seasonal
menu items in Freezer to Microwave/Oven safe re-useable
containers for $85.00. Delivery is available for and
additional $5.00 (within the existing delivery zone).
This “Senior Friendly” service will allow clients to
select a choice of seasonal menu items that may include:
Shepherd’s Pie made with Kerr Farm Beef, Chicken Parmesan
with Organic Penne & Tomato Sauce, Slow Roasted
Pork with Braised Apples & Mashed Potatoes, Creamy
Organic Pasta with Salmon & Broccoli, and Chicken
Pot Pie with Biscuit Topping.
“It’s been the red apron’s mission to get our friends,
family and loved ones “back to the table” around wholesome
food,” said co-founders Jo-Ann Laverty. “And we’ve been
successful. Our business has grown steadily since we
opened our doors in 2005.”
“But with the population over 65 expected to double
over the next three decades, there is an increasing
demand for services that support seniors and their families.
We’ve been overwhelmed with requests from people to
customize our offerings to the elderly and produce single
serving meals. We just can’t ignore the need anymore,”
co-founder Jennifer Heagle reports.
the red apron's success has been built on the popular
Mid Week Dinner Club, which offers Members a choice
of delicious meals—made from fresh, seasonal ingredients—Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday of every week. Delivery and pick-up
is available.
“Our clients are not only dealing with their own busy
lives, but many of them have taken on the added responsibility
of caring for ageing parents, and have turned to us
for help”, says Jo-Ann.
“Many of our elderly clients want to continue to live
independently, but their families worry that they are
not eating well,” adds Jennifer. “With our food, they
know their loved ones will have well balanced and delicious
meals easily available.”
the red apron is located
at 571 Gladstone Avenue in Ottawa.
